MY BIOGRAPHY

Now more than ever, it's crucial to support independent artists. With the rise of A.I., artists are being replaced by expensive, environmentally harmful programs trained on the work of creatives who did not consent to this exploitation, and who receive no due compensation.

Your choice to hire or commission an artist means the world to us, and I will do my best to provide you with high-quality product and a smooth and positive collaborative experience!

Hiring me for a project is also a guarantee that you'll be working with someone with experience and a degree in their field. I think of each commission as a collaboration between my clients and me, and greatly value any and all input I receive from them during the artistic process. If you're curious about what that looks like, contact me!

Overcoming Adversity

My biggest challenge post-graduation has been my health. Since 2023, I've been battling chronic migraines that have greatly affected my ability to work regular hours, my mental health, and my social, financial, and housing situations.

Despite this, I've remained committed to pursuing a career in art, and have been learning, with much success, how to manage my pain as well as I can with the help of medications, my family, and therapy.

While this has been a uniquely challenging endeavor, I have gained much experience with problem-solving and perspective as a result of it.

Hi!  My name is Abby Burtin, and I'm an Illustrator working out of St. Louis, Missouri.  I have years of experience in both traditional and digital mediums, and I'm constantly learning more about myself, my art, and how I can improve.

I aim to work in the professional fields of concept art and character design, providing high-quality and unique work for clients who desire a way to see their ideas and dreams turn into something real. Right now, I am working as a freelance artist in order to maintain a flexible schedule and navigate my chronic pain.

When it comes to my personal life, there are few things that make me happier than sketching, and I often end up drawing subjects from my favorite books, TV shows, movies, and music!  (And maybe my two favorite dogs.)  I find art is a wonderful way to show appreciation for the things I love.

I graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in May of 2022.

I'm always open to discussing my work or a future job!  If you like my work or want to know more about me, please feel free to contact me via email or fill out the message form on my home page!
